Oakland, Calif. – May 21, 2018: The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that travelers will have the opportunity to go to Oakland International Airport (OAK) to enroll in the popular TSA Pre✓® expedited screening program starting today, Monday, May 21.
TSA Pre✓® enrollment center will be open for two weeks starting Monday, May 21 through Friday, June 1. The center, which will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., will be located in OAK’s Terminal 2 Ticketing Lobby, room 1029. The enrollment center will be closed on weekends and on Memorial Day, May 28. The airport is located at 1 Airport Drive in Oakland.
TSA Pre✓® allows Trusted Travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt during the security screening process. They can also leave their laptop in its case and keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels in their carry-on bag.
TSA at OAK operates dedicated TSA Pre✓® lanes in both terminals at the airport. Travelers who want to enjoy the benefits of TSA Pre✓® on a consistent basis are encouraged to enroll in the program.
Currently, Southwest Airlines is offering an incentive for TSA Pre✓®-eligible passengers departing OAK. The promotion offers that travelers will get through the TSA Pre✓® line in OAK’s Terminal 2 in 10 minutes or less or the airline will give the passengers 2,500 Rapid Rewards bonus points. The promotion is good through June 29.
The process to enroll in TSA Pre✓® begins online at www.tsa.gov/precheck. Click on the words “Start Application Now” to make an appointment anytime between May 21 and June 1 and select “Oakland International Airport” as the enrollment center location.
You will need to complete the enrollment process in-person at the on-airport TSA Pre✓® application center. Applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or a driver license and certified copy of a birth certificate and fingerprints will be collected during the in-person session.
The application fee is $85 and Trusted Traveler status is good for five years. It can be paid at the time of your appointment by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted. Walk-ins are permitted and will be accommodated around scheduled appointments.
Once approved, individuals will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) making them eligible to utilize TSA Pre✓® lanes on a consistent basis at security checkpoints at airports nationwide. Children 12 and under are permitted to use the TSA Pre✓® lane when traveling with a TSA Pre✓®- eligible parent or guardian.
Fifty-three airlines participate in TSA Pre✓® and travelers departing a U.S. airport flying on any of those airlines are eligible for expedited screening. As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures both seen and unseen throughout the airport. All travelers will be screened, and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.
