Oakland, Calif. – October 23, 2019: Jack London Square welcomes dogs, puppies and their people for a free Halloween festival this Saturday. The fourth annual “Boo! Bark, Brews + Bites” at the Oakland waterfront offers frights and delights from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no admission fee and food and beverage are available for purchase.
“This Halloween oriented event traditionally attracts crowds of dog lovers and their canine friends to the Oakland waterfront,” said Port of Oakland Director of Commercial Real Estate Pamela Kershaw. “It will be an afternoon of community fun at Jack London square where everyone is welcome.”
This event celebrates man’s best friend and helps raise awareness and funds for the non-profit Canine Companions for Independence (CCI). Funds raised for CCI are used to train assistance dogs for kids and adults with disabilities, free of charge. These four-footed heroes serve their people by opening doors, picking up dropped items, alerting to sounds and more.
The charity will co-host the annual DogFest Walk n’ Roll Bay Area to coincide with the waterfront activities. DogFest Walk ‘n Roll is a pet and family-friendly quarter mile walk at Jack London Square.
Attendees with pets are encouraged to dress up along with their furry friends to take part in the Halloween canine costume contest. DogFest goers have the chance to meet assistance dogs and puppies in training and do a little pet shopping in a beautiful shoreline setting. The combined events will offer live music, food from local vendors, a meet-and-greet with S. J. Sharkie® (San Jose Sharks mascot), pet photo booths, people and pooch crafts, and doggy treats.
Many of the Jack London Square restaurants and retailers will offer Halloween specials for guests and their four-legged friends. Pets are welcome at all Jack London Square restaurants that have outdoor dining, year-round.
Transportation options to the Square include the Alameda/SF Bay Ferry, public transit, biking, walking and driving. For directions to Jack London Square, please go here.
