Craig Simon
Director of Aviation
Craig Simon began serving as the Port of Oakland’s Director of Aviation on July 13, 2023. Prior to that, he was Acting Director of Aviation since May 2023. He leads a staff of more than 200 people responsible for the management of Oakland International Airport (OAK). OAK is the second-busiest airport in the San Francisco Bay Area and ranks first in air cargo. Mr. Simon has served the airport industry for more than 22 years, most recently as OAK’s Assistant Director of Aviation. In that role, Mr. Simon was responsible for planning, organizing, and directing OAK’s day-to-day operations. Prior to his Assistant Director position, Mr. Simon served as OAK’s Facilities Manager and Airside Operations Superintendent for a combined eight years. Before joining the Port, Mr. Simon worked at San José Mineta International Airport for 11 years.
