Development Opportunity
The Port of Oakland is soliciting submissions for the development, use, and lease of Charles P. Howard Marine Terminal (the “Site”). The Site consists of approximately 50-acres of waterfront property located at 1 Market Street, Oakland and is commonly referred to as “Howard Property.” First acquired by the Port in 1978 and activated in 1982, Howard Property was formerly the site for various maritime activities, including container, bulk, and Ro-Ro (automobile) operations, for more than 30 years. The last Howard Property marine terminal operator requested early termination of its lease in July 2013. Currently, Howard Property is subject to mostly short-term property rental agreements to accommodate container parking, depot operations, and other ancillary maritime services.
The Port will consider a wide range of submissions including, for example, one or more of the following: maritime, light industrial, manufacturing, distribution, educational, commercial, entertainment, recreational, cultural, and/or water-oriented uses.
