
Blueprint for growing business and creating more local job opportunities
Oakland, Calif. – February 10, 2025: The Oakland Board of Port Commissioners just approved the Port’s Strategic Plan for the years 2025-2030. The plan provides a blueprint for the next five years focusing on market growth, job creation, and modernization of Port facilities and operations.
“The Port is a growing, vibrant center for regional and international commerce, travel, recreation, and clean energy innovation,“ said Port of Oakland Commission President Michael Colbruno. “The Port will continue to leverage its assets for business and economic development, while maximizing benefits for our local residents.”
The plan unveils ambitious goals for the Port’s seaport, airport, commercial real estate holdings, and its publicly-owned utility. The Port’s vision includes:
• Capturing market growth and expanding its economic base;
• Modernizing and upgrading infrastructure;
• Transitioning to a zero-emissions facility, and building climate resilience;
• Maximizing land use value and revenues;
• Expanding workforce training and job development; and
• Creating opportunities for local businesses and community economic development.
The Port operates under the motto ‘Everyone’s Port,’ emphasizing its connection to the community by providing jobs, generating revenue, and offering leisure and recreational opportunities.
“We are optimistic about the Port of Oakland’s future,” said Danny Wan, Port of Oakland Executive Director. “As we modernize and upgrade the Port’s infrastructure, we will capture market growth and create opportunities for jobs.”
