Oakland, Calif. – April 11, 2018: The Port of Oakland is sending 250 Oakland youngsters to Children’s Fairyland April 13 for a day of fun and education. Students from five elementary schools will take part in Port of Oakland Day at the city’s 68-year old amusement park.
The students are from the following Oakland public schools:
- Bella Vista Elementary School
- Community United Elementary School
- Greenleaf Elementary School
- Lockwood Pre-K Early Childhood School
- PLACE @ Prescott Elementary School
The Port will provide tabletop science activities and maritime-related craft projects until 2 p.m. The Port will showcase its miniature crane, allowing children to practice their skills at crane operations. This popular exhibit was designed to get children interested in maritime careers. Port-related books will be featured during Toddler Storytime held at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the Emerald City Stage.
