New quick-service restaurant Cancún Sabor Mexicano offers authentic Mexican dishes
Oakland, Calif. – May 1, 2024: New quick-service restaurant Cancún Sabor Mexicano is now open and serving passengers at Oakland International Airport’s Terminal 1. The new restaurant is based on the East Bay streetside location of the same name located in Berkeley. Cancún marks the eleventh new concession introduced at OAK under its refreshed food and beverage program. The restaurant is operated by Berkeley-based and African American-owned concessionaire Soaring Food Group.
“We are very pleased to be unveiling our newest restaurant, Cancún Sabor Mexicano for our Terminal 1 passengers,” says Craig Simon, Interim Director of Aviation at the Port of Oakland. “This particular concession was developed due to the significance of its streetside location in Berkeley. This aligns perfectly with our refreshed food and beverage program that places an emphasis on local features.”
Cancún Sabor Mexicano’s streetside location has been operating in Downtown Berkeley for 30 years and has served tens of thousands of Berkeley High School and University of California, Berkeley students over the decades. The menu offerings at the airport location will include Mexican fare such as burritos, burrito bowls, tacos, quesadillas, tortas, nachos, salads, ceviche, and various other plates. Cancún will also offer a full breakfast menu including chilaquiles, breakfast burritos, breakfast tacos, and breakfast tortas. There is a wide selection of protein choices on the menu, including their popular vegan al pastor and vegan chorizo.
Hours of operation for Cancún Sabor Mexicano will be 8:00 AM through 9:00 PM daily. The restaurant is located in Terminal 1 adjacent to Gate 9.
