Oakland, CA (Sept. 21, 2017) – The Eat Real Festival at Jack London Square returns to the Oakland waterfront this Friday through Sunday. The event celebrates regional and sustainable food craft in three city blocks with local food vendors, artisan products, craft beers and demonstrations from the Bay Area’s top chefs and culinary experts.
The family-friendly event is free to attend with food and beverage available for purchase. Organizers say more than 650,000 people have experienced the festival since 2009.
“Whether you’re a casual foodie or a serious aficionado you can pick up new food-making skills at Eat Real,” said Festival Director, Ally DeArman. Proceeds will benefit the non-profit organization Food Craft Institute.
The Oakland Symphony will perform on the Main Stage Saturday, creating a dinner set to enjoy along with tasty treats from more than 70 local food vendors.
Eat Real’s Family Fun Zone will provide hands-on activities for people of all ages. The Port of Oakland will host a table where youngsters can learn to make container crane models on Sunday, Sept. 24, from 11AM to 1PM. City Slickers Farms will join the Port table to help kids learn how to grow perennials.
Jack London Square merchants including Belcampo Meat Co., Baia Pasta, California Canoe & Kayak, and Lungomare plan to offer weekend-long specials and interactive activities. Eat Real welcomes newcomer Aburaya Japanese Fried Chicken among others, and celebrates the return of festival favorites including Humphry Slocombe, and Clove & Hoof.
