Oakland, Calif. – November 17, 2022: Oakland International Airport (OAK) projects 170,000 passengers will use the airport during the five-day Thanksgiving holiday travel period from Wednesday, November 23 through Sunday, November 27. This is a 10 percent increase over last Thanksgiving and more than 90% of the 2019 pre-pandemic traffic benchmark.
“The Thanksgiving travel period is always busy, and the airport is ready to welcome holiday travelers” says Bryant L. Francis, Director of Aviation at the Port of Oakland. “Travelers can help to make their journey smoother by arriving at the airport early, adhering to airline check-in and carry-on bag requirements and using airline apps for check-in whenever possible.”
Oakland International Airport expects the parking lots to be very busy and may sell out during the holiday travel period. We recommend that our parking lot customers visit: oaklandairport.com/parking before leaving for the airport for the latest information about parking lot availability.
BART is an excellent alternative option for travel to/from OAK with trains scheduled at 6-minute intervals during peak periods. Other airport ground transportation options include Lyft, Uber, public taxi and bus service. A full listing of regional ground transportation options can be found at: IFlyOAK.com/ground-transportation.
New concession locations are now open including popular Oakland brands Tay Ho, Farley’s, Peet’s Coffee and Tea, and the Oakland Draft House.
Airport Spokesperson and Public Information Officer Kaley Skantz will be available for media interviews between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 23rd. Please utilize the media contact information below to schedule.
