Jack London Square Farmer’s Market offers summertime food & fun

The decades-old market brings fresh food and culture to the community

Oakland, Calif. – July 26, 2024: The Jack London Square Farmer’s Market is held every Sunday year-round, rain or shine, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Webster Street and Embarcadero West. The market features an average of 30 vendors selling fruits, vegetables, craft food products, candles, and other craft items. Anywhere from 500 to 750 people visit the market each week. It fills a need for some Oakland residents, including those in Jack London Square, who do not have regular access to fresh produce in their neighborhoods.

“This farmer’s market is a Jack London Square institution,” said Port of Oakland Chief Real Estate Officer Jonathan Veach. “We’re proud to be a part of bringing an important resource to Oaklanders and collectively, our support is critical to ensure the market’s sustainability for years to come.”
The market has been a staple of the Jack London Square community since 1989. It brings together local farmers and food craft vendors with customers in a vibrant market at a beautiful, historic venue.
Today, Kyle Wiggins, who grew up in the Jack London Square neighborhood and is owner/operator of Wiggins Markets, runs the farmer’s market.

“My goal is to connect local farmers and craftsmen with customers,” said Wiggins. “This couldn’t be better for me, serving the community I love. Jack London Square is perfectly positioned so that tourists and residents can have access to fresh food.”

This summer the market will feature some entertaining additions. Tipsy Putt indoor golfing is at the market every Sunday through August 11.

The Oakland Department of Transportation is attending the market throughout the summer to collect feedback on its proposed Embarcadero Rail and Safety Improvements. The project is designed to enhance safety for motor vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists in one of the busiest rail corridors in the area.
