Oakland, CA – Dec. 23, 2013 –The Airport Area Business Association (AABA), an organization of more than 100 member firms actively working to improve the economic and environmental conditions in the area near Oakland International Airport (OAK), has honored Port of Oakland Aviation Director Deborah Ale Flint with its first-ever Leadership Award.
“Thanks in large part to her leadership at the Port of Oakland and Oakland International Airport–and the public confidence she has inspired–there’s a buzz in the air about what’s happening in the Airport/Coliseum area,” said AABA Executive Director Debbie Hauser. “She’s the real deal. Deborah is making good things happening for OAK, and when good things happen at the airport, that translates to good things for all of Oakland.”
The AABA Leadership Award was established as a way to recognize exceptional individuals who are making a particular positive impact throughout the Coliseum-Airport Area of Oakland through his or her actions, words and deeds. The idea was born out of the organization’s acknowledgement of contributions made by leaders, thinkers and workers over the last century who have made Oakland and the Airport/Coliseum Area the hub of activity it has become today.
“I am humbled to be the first recipient of this new Leadership Award,” said Ale Flint. “The Port of Oakland team recognizes the importance of a strong local business community to Airport’s success, and I am pleased to accept this award on behalf of my team members who work every day to ensure OAK remains a strong economic engine for our community.”
AABA was established 45 years ago to promote and sustain commerce and industry in the Oakland International Airport/Coliseum area. AABA serves as the communication link for its membership and associated partners and represents its members’ interests in legislative issues, including state, federal and local regulations, with an emphasis on taxation, safety, security, property improvement, ecology, and area promotion matters that influence the local business climate.
