Oakland, Calif. – March 8, 2018: Second Saturday, a new event at Jack London Square, rolls out March 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and runs throughout the year. It transforms Jack London Square into a lively, open-air market featuring up to 100 unique vendors, live entertainment, children’s activities and food. The market is every second Saturday of the month, open to the public and free to attend.
The outdoor market serves as a venue for local entrepreneurs to highlight their products and services in a family-friendly, festive atmosphere.
The 5th annual Bacon and Beer Festival is also happening Saturday at the Oakland waterfront from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Festival goers will sample bacon-inspired dishes from area restaurants and beer from regional breweries. The celebration is on the ground floor of the Market Building at 55 Harrison Street in Jack London Square.
Those who attend can vote for The “Beast” in Show Award for the best bacon dish and best beer at the Festival.
Tickets are available for purchase on Eventbrite and Facebook. The tickets give guests the opportunity for unlimited sampling of the bacon-inspired plates and beer tastings. All guests must be 21+ with valid ID.
Proceeds from the Oakland Bacon and Beer Festival 2018 will benefit Oakland Grown. The organization focuses on building an equitable local economy by inspiring shoppers to direct their dollars to independent Oakland businesses, makers, and artists.
These events are available on Jack London Square’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/jacklondonsquare or call 510-645-9292.
