The City/Port Liaison Committee was originally established in 1982
as a "round table" discussion forum of subjects that were of mutual
interest to the City and the Port. The Committee was created to enhance
"communication, cooperation, and coordination" between the City and
Port. No decision-making or oversight responsibilities were set
Forth for this committee. This Liaison Committee was charged with
Providing "guidance" and "policy direction," serving as an advisory body to
both the Port Commissioners and the City Council.
The Committee is comprised of four representatives from the City
Council and three representatives from the Board of Port Commissioners. Meetings are held quarterly. Any proposed ideas or actions are referred to the City Council and/or the Board of Port Commissioners.
