The Port of Oakland holds environmental stewardship as one of its core organizational objectives. We are committed to developing and implementing effective and innovative environmental programs to reduce the impacts of our operations and development on the environment.
The Port of Oakland, in partnership with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, the West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project, and maritime industry representation is engaged in a planning process for the development of a Maritime Air Quality Improvement Plan. The planning process will include a series of public meetings throughout 2007. This page will be updated on a regular basis to provide you with up-to-date information about this planning effort.
The planning process will be led by three co-chairs:
Omar Benjamin, Executive Director, Port of Oakland; Jack Broadbent, Executive Officer, Bay Area Air Quality Management District; Brian Beveridge, Co-Chair, West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project and Andy Garcia, Executive Vice President, GSC Logistics, Inc.
