Social Responsibility at the Port of Oakland
The Social Responsibility Division (SRD) is responsible for balancing port economic development and social justice by implementing policies, programs and collaborative efforts in the local community. There are three core areas that support this vision:
Social Responsibility Departments
Social Responsibility Administration (SRD)
Social Responsibility Administration provides management direction and coordination of the Division’s strategic planning, operations and overall budget. SRD works closely with the Executive office and other Port divisions to administer and manage Federal, State, and Port policies and regulatory requirements, as well as promoting socially responsible programs that seek to balance and support the Port’s business activities. SRD’s business plan is guided by the 2007 Port Alignment Strategy. For additional information please contact:

The Contract Compliance Department encourages the participation of small and local contractors, consultants and vendor businesses by ensuring non-discrimination through outreach, monitoring, education and technical assistance. As a means to achieving this goal, it has developed and is implementing the Port Local Business Utilization Policy, its Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) Program, its Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program, its Certification Program, and the administration and monitoring of the Port’s Living Wage Ordinance and Federal/State prevailing wage requirements as well as wage monitoring of and small business access to opportunities in the Maritime Aviation Project Labor Agreement (MAPLA).
