September 15, 2007   2007 Annual Coastal Cleanup Day
For the past 16 years, the Port of Oakland has participated by organizing a cleanup of the shoreline in portions of the Oakland Estuary. Every year, volunteers from the community dedicate their time to pick up trash and recyclables along the estuary.

November 14, 2002   Around the World in 80 Ways
Four adventurers, three of whom are disabled, are traveling around the world using at least 80 unique means or transportation. The Community Relations staff welcomed and presented the adventurers a letter from Executive Director Tay Yoshitani acknowledging their accomplishments on November 14, 2002. November 7, 2002   Family Night
The Port sent volunteers to Marcus Foster Elementary School on, Thursday, November 7th to participate in Family Night. Volunteers handed out free books in both English and Spanish and served dinner to 20 children and their parents. School Board member Greg Hodge and the Oakland Fire Department spoke on the importance of reading as a family. Family Night is a program sponsored by The Oakland Unified School District. October 31, 2002   Halloween Read Aloud Day
On Halloween morning, when all of the goblins and ghouls were still sound asleep, seven Port of Oakland employees, most dressed in their Halloween best, headed to Lafayette Elementary School in West Oakland. Read more about Halloween Read Aloud Day.
September 21, 2002   Port of Oakland California Coastal Cleanup

For the past 12 years, the Port of Oakland has been organizing the California Coastal Cleanup for the Oakland/Alameda Estuary. Every year volunteers from the community dedicate their time to pick up trash and recyclables along the estuary. Take a free harbor tour of the nation's fourth largest container port. Get a water-side perspective of the container ships, the cranes that move the cargo, including some of the world's largest cranes just delivered, the terminals, and the new park. April 15, 2002   Vienna Mayor to Visit Port

April 7, 2002   Cesar Chavez Festival

July 2001   West Oakland Community Day
To foster open communication and to strengthen community ties, we're creating opportunities for the exchange of ideas and sharing of information.
